ATTAWAY
Saralee Sansing Attaway passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at her home in Aransas Pass. She was 79.
She was preceded in death by her husband J.M. in 1997.
Saralee graduated from the University of Texas in 1941. She was a Home Economics teacher and a former member of the Aransas Pass School Board. She was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Hibiscus Garden Club, as well as an avid homemaker.
She is survived by her two sons, Jay (Cissie) Attaway and Curtis (Marsha) Attaway both of Aransas Pass; one daughter, Sue Ellen Attaway of Grand Junction, Colorado; four grandchildren: Shannon Katheryn Attaway of New York, New York, Shelly Elizabeth Attaway of Houston, Jacqueline Leigh Attaway of Austin, Texas, Curtis Lee Attaway, II of Aransas Pass; one sister, Marian Eldridge of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister-in-law, Doug Sansing of Austin; two nieces and three nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 1999 at the First Presbyterian Church in Aransas Pass.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 62, Aransas Pass, Texas 78335.
DILLON
Cleo Horne Dillon, 82, of Taft, Texas, passed away on October 6, 1999. She was born on February 25, 1917, in Corpus Christi, to Charles J. and Maggie Horne. As a child she lived in the London Community before moving to Corpus Christi and finishing her schooling. She graduated from Texas A&I College in 1939 and taught home-economics in Mathis. On February 8, 1941, she married R.C. Dillon and they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage in Taft. Cleo was a member of the First Methodist Church of Taft and The Woman's Club of Taft.
Cleo is survived by her husband, Robert Crawford Dillon; her children, Dianne (Mike) Moppert of Missouri City, Texas, Robert Crawford Dillon, Jr. of Taft, Texas, Linda (Charles) Brown of Taft, Texas; her sister, Neva Lois (Bob) Mitchell of Springfield, Missouri; her brother, Earl J. (Mary) Horne of Caddo Mills, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Alberta Horne and Kathleen Horne of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brother-in-law, John M. Clayton of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren: Michael Moppert, Melanie Moppert, Melinda Moppert, Kelly Dillon Boatman, James Dillon, Megan Dillon, Melissa Brown Knisley, Amy Brown Teague, Charles Brown III; her great-grandson, Justin Boatman; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 8, 1999 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home of Taft.
Private family burial on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Sinton Cemetery, followed by a public Memorial Service at First Methodist Church of Taft at 11:00 a.m.
FLORES
Benita S. Flores, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 1999. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by the many lives her healing hands have touched. She was a homemaker and a catholic.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Benigna Salcido; daughter, Aurelia F. Ortiz; sister, Olivia Trevino; brother, Manuel Salcido, and son-in-law, Miguel Ortiz.
She is survived by her husband, Federico M. Flores; seven sons: Adan (Oralia) Flores, Alfredo (Angie) Flores, Alberto Flores, Arturo (Janet) Flores, Adrian (Lucy) Flores, Abel (Martha) Flores, and Robert (Sylvia) Flores; four daughters: Alicia F. Ortiz, Adela (Enrique) Escobedo, San Juana (Manuel) Hinojosa all of Gregory, Anita Vela (Jesse Willars) of Portland; brothers, Melquiades Salcido of Gregory, Miguel (Julia) Salcido of Aransas Pass, Merced (Chavela) Salcido Gregory; 46 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Friday, October 8, 1999 at Maxwell P. Dunne Portland Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in Gregory Cemetery.
GARRISON
In memory of our mother Gladys Ruth Herron Garrison, 83, formally of Robstown, passed away Wednesday October 6, 1999 in a Virginia, Minnesota Hospital, with her son Alan, his wife Melodie and their two daughters Kathleen and Kimberly by her side. She graduated from the Wewoka, Oklahoma high school and a beauty school in a near by town and later owned her own business. After receiving her teaching degree she taught cosmetology. She retired from the Robstown Independent School District and previously taught in San Diego and Houston, Texas. After her retirement she moved to Hondo, Texas where she taught art classes in her home, where she lived for many years and will be missed by many friends.
She married Fane Wilks Garrison who preceded her in death on June 1, 1979.
She is survived by one son, Alan Walter Garrison of Mountain Iron, Minnesota; two daughters Marlyn Mumme of Hondo, Texas and Pamela Garrison of Robstown, Texas; one sister Velma Roberts of Wewoka, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday October 9, 1999 at Memorial Park Cemetery and interment will follow.
My mother had many accomplishments in her life, but the best thing about her is she's my mom. I already miss you, I will always love you, Pam.
LANE
Bonnie Jean Lane passed away Saturday, October 2, 1999 at a local hospital. She was 58.
Bonnie was a public school teacher at Savage Elementary School for a number of years. She was a graduate of Ray High School and Texas A&I Kingsville.
Survivors include her brothers, Virgil Reeves, Jr. and Harold R. Reeves both of the Coastal Bend Area; and three nephews and four nieces.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 9, 1999 at Trinity Worship Center located at 7010 Holly Rd.
LEE
Terri Marie Lee, 36, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 1999 in Cordova, Alaska.
She is survived by her husband, Kent Lee of Cordova, Alaska; one son, Jerrod Lee Oliver of Cordova, Alaska; two daughters, Valerie Gayle Roberts of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kathryn Elizabeth Cruz Briones of Cordova, Alaska; and her father, Chester Waskiewicz of Yuma, Arizona.
Funeral Services will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 1999.
Interment will follow at the Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.
NANEZ
Lasaro Nunez passed away October 7, 1999, he was 65. He was born March 29, 1934 in Runge, Texas. He had worked as a farmhand for R.C. Dillon for 32 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Taft.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina B. Nanez; his parents, Modesto and Alejandra Nanez; his sisters, Manuela Rangel and Margarita Nanez.
He is survived by his children Olga (Johnny) Carvajal of Taft, Alicia (Bill) Sturgeon of Taft, Mary (Robert) Rodriguez of Portland, Modesta (Hector Pena) Nanez of Portland, Oscar (Celia) Nanez, Angie Nanez, Lasaro Nanez, Jr., and Roger Nanez, all of Gregory, Rachel (Jose) Lamas of Aransas Pass, Jesica Nanez of Aransas Pass. Brothers and sisters, Benardo Guerrero of California, Pedro Guerrero and Natividad Guerrero of Goliad, and Dominga Padron of Geronimo, Texas.
Rosary will be recited Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday October 11, 1999 at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft, burial will follow at San Patricio Memorial Gardens in Portland.
OCHOA
Jose E. "Cano" Ochoa, 75, passed away Thursday, Ocotober 7, 1999 at his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Carolina Salinas Ochoa.
He was a loving father, uncle, brother, and friend to all. He was a lifetime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and a self-employed Master Plumber (#M5753) for over 30 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Leticia Ochoa of Corpus Christi, Texas, Belinda O. Rodriguez and her husband, Richard of Houston, Texas; one son, Jaime Ochoa; two granddaughters, Aja Rodriguez, Anna Carolina Ochoa; and her mother Cara Ochoa of Corpus Christi, Texas; and one grandson, Richard Anthony Rodriguez. He is also survived by his brother, Juan Jose Ochoa of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Martina Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Oralia Mora of Pasadena, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank all of his doctors and staff at Doctors Regional Medical Center, Bay Area Hospital, Corpus Christi Cancer Center and Vista Hospice for their support.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 1999 at the Seaside Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Seaside Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, 1999 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Carlos Gonzalez, Danny Ochoa, David Landa, Edward Ochoa, Richard Anthony Rodriguez and Adan Perez will serve as pallbearers.
ROBINSON
Leon V. "Bo" Robinson, of Corpus Christi, a devoted Catholic, left this life to be joined with God on October 4, 1999. While on vacation and visiting family in Canada, he died unexpectedly. Born in Caledonia, Ontario, Canada, on April 24, 1930, he spent the majority of his life working all over the United States in the oil industry, but considered Corpus Christi his home. A loving and generous husband and father, he retired to Corpus Christi in 1993 to be with his children. Not content with retirement, he started a small home repair business. The many people he worked with and for appreciated his honesty, trustworthiness, generosity and dedication, earning him many friends.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Iris Robinson; his seven children: Christopher (Kim) Robinson of Flagstaff, Arizona, Sandy (Will) Reese of Corpus Christi, Donna (Matt) Hutto of Corpus Christi, Brenda (Wayne) Gauntt of San Antonio, Linda Marlar of San Antonio, Lisa Ingram of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Mari Anderson of Winnemucca, Nevada and 16 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Tom, Doug, Bob and five sisters: Margaret, Betty, Mary, Barbara, and Therese, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 1999 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
Funeral services are at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday October 9, 1999 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Battered Womens Shelter.
SALINAS
Mrs. Guadalupe B. Salinas, 89, years of age, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on October 7, 1999. Mrs. Salinas was born December 12, 1909 in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Gabriel Brambila and Josefina B. Garcia.
Mrs. Salinas was preceded in death by her husband, Manual Salinas; a daughter, Josefina; two brothers, Gabriel Brambila and Edmundo Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas.
She is survived by her sisters, Gloria Hoy and Irene Torres of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Flora (Chet) Clark of San Antonio, Gloria (Baldomero) Cantu of San Juan and two sons, Sergio (Cathy) Salinas of Sugarland and Mario R. (Nella) Salinas of Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Salinas was also blessed by her grandchildren, Javier (Kristine) Villarreal of Miami, Florida, Belinda (Jeff) Weaver, and Selina Cantu of Dallas, Texas, Omar Cantu of San Juan, Allison Salinas of Sugar Land, Texas, and Lauren & Kristen Salinas of Laredo, Texas, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Salinas was a long time resident of Robstown, Texas. She was loved by all who knew her, cherished by her family and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 1999 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Nancy L. Taber, 69, passed away on October 8, 1999 in a local hospital.
Nancy was born to the marriage of William and Edrie Davenport, on May 14, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois.
Nancy was a devoted member of the Riverside Church of Christ for seven years. She was a loving wife, and a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving family include her husband, Dean Taber, of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight children: Danny (Sherry) Imhoff of Portland, Cheryl Lynn (Robert) Haire and Nora Imhoff both of Corpus Christi, Jimmy D. Imhoff of South Carolina, Cynthia Ann (John) Barnett of Orange Grove, Texas, Larry D. (Penny) Taber of Orange Grove, Texas, Teresa E. (Ray) Rabalis of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kenneth W. (Debra) Taber of Tyler, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Brittian of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two brothers, Jerry Davenport of Corpus Christi, Texas, and John Davenport of Washington.
Visitation will be held on Sunday October 10, 1999 from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at the Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday October 11, 1999 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with H.D. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
TOR
Ahmet Deniz Tor died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 following a long illness.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Yates Tor; his mother Edythe Williams Tor of Monkton, Maryland; his brother Sadun Tor of Bozeman, Montana; and his sister Lisa Tor of San Francisco. He attended the University of Virginia and the University of Baltimore School of Law. He practiced law in Corpus Christi for 25 years and was active in the sailing community. His friends will gather at Bay Yacht Club on Monday at 5:30 to honor his life. In lieu of flower, donations may be made in his memory to the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
