G-P remains unblemished in District 31-4A play, 28-7

PORTLAND - Brett Keener runs the play over and over in practice. There aren't a lot of fancy handoffs or complicated reads. Just fake to the upback, hide the ball and run.
   Keener ran a lot Friday night.
   The play Keener ran, called 8-hole reverse keep - or a variation thereof - resulted in 208 yards rushing and four touchdowns as Gregory-Portland High School humbled Tuloso-Midway, 28-7, in a District 31-4A football game at Wildcat Stadium.
   "We run it at least 40 times probably," Keener said of the practice regimen. "I hope we have some success with it as much as we practice it."
   Keener scored on runs of 29, 30, 5 and 31 yards. As a result, the 3-2 Wildcats, with only 11 seniors on the varsity, moved into a tie for the district lead at 2-0. Still, coach Tim Holt isn't ready to send his club among the ranks of preseason favorites Calallen, Alice and Rockport-Fulton.
