Game delayed three hours
Problems with the ice surface at the coliseum delayed Sunday's scheduled 3:05 p.m. game for three hours. The problem stemmed from converting the coliseum floor from a basketball court to the hockey rink, which started Sunday around 3:30 a.m.
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team hosted the Islander Classic at the coliseum Friday and Saturday. The four-team tournament -- won by the Islanders -- featured two games Friday and two more Saturday night. The ice, which is covered during basketball games with a layer of foam and plywood, was not safe for skating after converting the surface back for hockey in time for the scheduled time.
Both the Islanders and IceRays share the Coliseum.
