DAWSON
Helen Margaret Dawson, 79, of Corpus Christi passed away Saturday, November 27, 1999 at a local hospital after a lenghty illness.
Helen was born may 21, 1920 in Vanoss, Oklahoma to John and Alice Turner. She married Perry Dawson on May 20, 1938. Helen and Perry were entrepreneurs, involved in various businesses, primarily tennis. She was a first-class athlete, receiving national Senior Olympic rankings in volleyball and tennis, and earned gold medals in these events. In the first National Senior Sports Assn. Tennis Tournament, she was the gold medalist. She won the Hill Country Mountain run. Helen was a state champion in polka, folk and square dancing and was an accomplished square dance caller. During her lifetime, she was a volunteer at the YMCA and many other groups. Helen and Perry were past co-presidents of the State Association of Texas Pioneers.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Perry Dawson; two daughters, Jacque Kosek (John) and Jeanne Norton (Roger) all of Corpus Christi; one son, Ed Dawson (Margaret) of San Antonio; two brothers, C.E. Turner of San Antonio and Frank Turner of California; two grandchildren, Margaret Elder (Wyn) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and John Dawson of San Antonio; one great grandson, John Travis Elder of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 29, 1999 at New Funeral Options.
EDWARDS
Richard Alonzo Edwards, age 58, passed away Thursday November 25, 1999.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edwin, Sr. and Odilia Edwards.
He is survived by two daughters Susan Grace Edwards of Immokele, Florida and Elizabeth Marie Jimenez of Robstown; three sons Richard Edwards of Corpus Christi, Paul Anthony and Michael Daniel Edwards of Houston; three brothers Edwin B. (Christina) Edwards of Corpus Christi, Douglas A. (Viola) Edwards of Corpus Christi and John David Edwards of Alice; two sisters, Odilia E. (Frank) Herrera of Harlingen, Texas and Maria Gutierrez of Corpus Christi also four grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 28, 1999 from 12:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home.
A Funeral Procession will depart at Trevino Funeral Home Monday, November 29, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. for 10:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Jaime Trevino.
TREVINO
Marina " Mari" Evelia T. Trevino, 47, of Corpus Christi passed away Saturday, November 27, 1999 in Round Rock, Texas after a sudden illness.
She is preceded in death by her father, Raul M. Trevino and one brother Jose Angel Trevino.
She was a 1970 graduate of Foy H. Moody High School. She was currently employed as a pediatric LVN with South West Guaranty Trust Co., Interim Health, M.C.H. Mrs. Trevino was a member of O.L.P.H. Catholic Church and was a co teacher of C.C.D. Mrs. Trevino also worked at the Corpus Christi State School for many years.
She is survived by her husband Ramiro Alcala Trevino; one son Miguel Andres Trevino; one daughter Marisol Elizabeth Trevino; her mother Daisy V. Trevino all of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Raul C. Trevino of Grandprairie, Texas, Cesario Trevino of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Alama Alicia Trevino of Houston, Mari De Refugio Montemayor of Corpus Christi, Daisy Linda King of Denton, Texas.
The family will be receiving friends Monday November 29, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Memorial Funeral Home Holly Road Chapel.
Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. entombment will follow at Memory Gardens cemetery Mausoleum.
MEDRANO
Vilma Sue Gonzalez Medrano, 44, passed away Sunday, November 28, 1999 after a long illness.
Vilma was an administrative assistant to a Deputy Commissioner of the State General Land Office under Garry Mauro. She was active in the Mexican-American Democrats and a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar Gonzalez, Sr.
She is survived by two children, Natassia Amanda Medrano and Carlo Armand Medrano both of Austin, Texas; her mother Otila (Adolfo) Cuellar of Alice, Texas; four brothers, Oscar Gonzalez, Jr. of Falcon, Texas, Homero Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez and Rodolfo Gonzalez all of Corpus Christi; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 1999 in the Seaside Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at 11:00 at Corpus Christi Cathedral.
Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
MEEHAN
Olive Irene leader Meehan a native of Corpus Christi, Texas died gently on November 25, 1999.
The rosary will be recited at Seaside Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. and the funeral mass will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Wednesday December 1, 1999 at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers are Dr. Byron Coward, Gary Espey, Lester Homan, George Hutchinson, Michael Rogers, and Richard Whittington.
HUNT
Melvin K. Hunt, 79, of Corpus Christi, passed away Saturday, November 27, 1999, in a local hospital. He was born December 24, 1919, in Gregory, Texas to Joe Albert and Sarah Norvell Stubblefield Hunt. Mr. Hunt served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was awarded the Purple Heart with One Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a guard for CPC International for 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge #34.
He was preceded in death by his son, Royce Hunt.
He was a wonderful husband for 51 years to his wife, Pearl Hunt of Corpus Christi. He was a loving daddy to all of his children and grandchildren. He is survived in addition to his wife by two daughters, Shirley Hunt Baumle and Patty Hunt both of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren, Dewayne Hunt, Shayne Herrmann, Shalynda Hunt, Victoria Baumle, Nicole Hunt, Robert Baumle, Larry Baumle, and Lorrie Whitelock; five great grandchildren, Megan, Brittany, Ashley, Jordan and Allison; sister, Grace Cox of Denton, Texas.
He will be dearly missed and remembered in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 29, 1999, in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.J. Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Hunt, Robert Baumle, Glenn White, Curtis McCann, Jesus Carrillo, Matt Herrmann, Dale Gernadt and Calvin Gernadt.
MIRCOVICH
Lucila de Alcala' Mircovich, 80, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at her residence.
She was born on November 26, 1918 in San Diego, Texas to David de Alcala' and Juanita Garcia de Alcala'. She was a member of Corpus Christi Cathedral parish, a graduate of Corpus Christi High School and a charter member of the Hi-Fairnessee Girls' Club. She was employed by Colbert's Smart Shop downtown and retired form Zales Jewelers.
She was preceded in death by her son, Martin Mircovich on November 13, 1999.
Lucila is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rudolph G. Mircovich; her sons, Rudolph Mircovich, Jr. and Ruben Mircovich; her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia M. and Frank Montoya; her grandson, Robert Montoya; and her great-grandson, Anthony Montoya; her late son Martin's fiance', Pat Bowden; her nephew and nieces, Adolph Davila, Jr. and Annette Ledesma of Houston, Texas, Alice Mondragon of Oklahoma and Alma Gonzalez of Bishop, Texas; a sister-in-law, Esther de Alcala' and numerous relatives.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 1999 at the Seaside Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 1999 at the Corpus Christi Cathedral with a procession departing Seaside Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Jose Cruz Pardo, 39, passed away on Friday, November 26, 1999 at a local hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Angel and Estefana Pardo of Clarkwood, Texas; two sons, Mark Anthony Pardo and Joe Pardo Jr. both of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Angel Pardo Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas and Chiro Pardo of Gregory Portland, Texas and one niece, Dvon Pardo of Gregory Portland, Texas.
Visitations will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 1999 with a rosary to be recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, Texas.
Interment will follow at Gregory Cemetery.
KING
Robert Charles "Bob" King, of Corpus Christi, passed away Saturday, November 27, 1999, at his residence, at the age of 69.
He previously served as president of the parish council at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Portland, Texas and was a member of Knights of Columbus. Bob was retired from Reliable Life Insurance Company and currently employed at Oso Bay Car Wash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lanelle King, and parents Olin C. and Leona King.
He is survived by his children Don and Laure King of Plano, Stephen and Jenny King of San Antonio, Kandy and Joe Kolb of Temple, Robert C. and Sherlene King, Jr. of Portland, Mariane and Brad Scott of Ft. Worth, Donna and Donald Hall of Portland; brother Clarence "Sonny" King of San Antonio, and fifteen grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 1999, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Father Tom Feeney on Tuesday, November 30, 1999, at 1:00 p.m., in the Seaside Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
RODRIGUEZ
Alta Rodriguez, 74, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 1999 at a local hospital.
Services are pending with Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
PINEDA
Samuel N. Pineda 53 of Corpus Christi passed away Saturday November 27, 1999.
He worked for the city of Corpus Christi from 1967-1978. He than worked for Land and Marine Oil Co. of Corpus Christi from 1978-1994. He went to Arizona where he worked for Valley View Community Hospital in the Phoenix area. He was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, Iglesia Del Valle in Surprise Arizona with pastor Tony Martinez. He was also involved with the Royal Rangers, Youth Group and was president of the Men's Axillary. He then came back to his hometown of Corpus Christi where he battled with heart disease. He presently was a member of Templo Cristo Rey De Gloria Pentecostal Church in Corpus Christi. He very much enjoyed fishing with his youngest son Samuel Pineda, Jr,. He will be missed very much, but God promises that those who die in Christ will be reunited one day if we believe, And have faith in Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his father Jose T. Pineda, his mother Francisca N. Pineda, he is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Sulema Adrian Pineda, two sons Jose Luis Pineda, Samuel Pineda, Jr. all of Corpus Christi. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will be receiving friends Monday November 19, 1999 from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home Crosstown Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday November 30, 1999 at the Memorial Funeral Home Crosstown Chapel with Rev. Ricardo Resendez officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews and cousins Anthony Adrian, Rene Aumada Jr., Roel Aumada, Edward Franco, Joe Franco, Jr. and Toby Sherrill.
SCHWENKE
ARANSAS PASS, TX - Reinhold A. Schwenke, 87, of Aransas Pass died November 27, 1999 in an Aransas Pass Hospital. He was past Owner-Operator of the Bakery Cafe for 25 years, a member of Sons of Hermann, a former Commissioner of the San Pat Navigation District, and a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Chruch.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Schwenke of Aransas Pass; one son, Reinhold "Ronnie" Schwenke of Sinton; one sister, Minnie Wagner of Schulenberg, Texas; three brothers, Edwin Schwenke of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Richard Schwenke of Beeville, Texas, and Rudolph Schwenke of Rosenburg, Texas; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A rosary will be recited Monday, November 29, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, Aransas Pass.
Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Aransas Pass.
Burial will follow at San Patricio Memorial Gardens, Portland, Texas.
STANFORD
Gladys Cleo Stanford, beloved matriarch of the extended Stanford family, passed away peacefully at Cuero Community Hospital after a short illness. She was born at Wilson Oklahoma May 29, 1910, but lived most of her life in South Texas, namely Premont and Portland before moving to Cuero.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John N. Stanford, Sr. and two baby boys: Nolen Dean and Thurman George.
She is survived by two sisters, Gayna Harrell of Fulton and LaVonia (Bill) Russell of Portersville, California; three sons, John N., Jr. of Portland, Rube and Rodney, both of Corpus Christi; four daughters: Ernestine and Gaylyn of Victoria, Doris of Corpus Christi, and Viki of Cuero.
Along with her grieving children she leaves 36 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
We will all miss her terribly.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Maxwell P. Dunne Portland Funeral Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 1999 Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel-Portland.
Interment will follow in San Patricio Memorial Gardens.
VILLARREAL
Raymond S. Villarreal, 50, passed away Saturday, November 27, 1999. He was a lifelong resident of Portland. Mr. Villarreal was retired from Reynolds Metals after twenty years of serve. He was a U.S. Army Reservist, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve S. Villarreal, and a brother, Juan Villarreal. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Elena Villarreal, daughter, Yvonne Villarreal, Three sons, Jason and Chris Villarreal all of Portland, Raymond (Stefanie) Villarreal, Jr., of Aransas Pass, grandchildren, Dakota Rae, Tyler, Tristan Villarreal of Aransas Pass, His father, Juan Ascencion Villarreal of San Diego, brothers & sisters, Benjamin Villarreal, Lydia Trevino both of Gregory, Betty Rosas of Corpus Christi, Emilia Villarreal of Dallas, Juanito, Abigail, Delia, and Yolanda Villarreal all of San Diego.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 1999 at Maxwell P. Dunne Portland Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Bob Dunn as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in Gregory Cemetery with full military honors.
