Red-hot Harris romps over 'Rays

Brahmas' star scores hat trick to lead Fort Worth past Corpus Christi, 6-4

From Caller-Times staff reports

FORT WORTH - For a team that has given up more goals than all but three teams in the Western Professional Hockey League, the last thing the IceRays needed to see Friday night was the league's hottest scorer.
They got a good, long look at Ross Harris all the same.
Harris had a hat trick, scoring once in the first and twice in the second period, giving him five goals in two games to lead the Fort Worth Brahmas to a 6-4 victory over Corpus Christi at the Convention Center in a game matching teams headed in opposite directions.
The loss was the IceRays' (8-6-3, 19 points) fifth in a row, dropped them four points behind the Central Division-leading Brahmas (11-4-1, 23 points), and left them in third place for the first time this season.
Despite its winning record, Corpus Christi has allowed 73 goals. Only Odessa, San Angelo and Abilene have given up more goals in the 18-team league. The IceRays continue their weekend road trip tonight at Amarillo.
Harris was simply too much for the beleaguered Corpus Christi defense, as he was the night before in Alexandria.
Fort Worth had moved into first place in the Central Division the previous night when they scored three times in a six-minute span of the third period- including two goals by Harris - to earn a 4-2 win at Alexandria.
Harris's first period goal opened the game's scoring and helped the Brahmas to a 3-1 lead before Jody Praznick got his first of the year at 15:28 on assists from brother Tobin Praznick and Roger Lewis to pull the IceRays within one at 3-2 at the first intermission. Tobin Praznick had scored on a power play to give the IceRays their first goal.
Harris got his second of the game at 4:03 of the second to make it 4-2 on a breakaway and after Dustin McArthur scored a shorthanded goal and Dave Gilmore added a power play score to tie it at four.
Harris got his hat trick at 19:26 of the second on a power play that made it 5-4. Bobby Pochyly scored an empty-netter with 42 seconds remaining and left the IceRays 0-4-1 in games they trail after two periods.
