ALLEN
   Frank Campbell Allen, Jr. of Harlingen, Texas passed away August 10, 1999 in a Harlingen hospital after a brief illness. He was 94.
   Services are pending with Cage-Mills Funeral Directos Downtown Chapel

ARMENTA
   Cyann Jade Armenta, infant daughter of Manuel Armenta and Veronica Urrea, passed away on Monday, August 9, 1999 in a local hospital.
   Other survivors include her sister, Destinee Armenta; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Ward; grandmother, Lucy Hernandez all of Corpus Christi, Texas; her great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gonzalo Pedraza and Mr. Felipe Hernandez; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
   Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at Seaside Memorial Park.

CATES
   Zela Rae Cates, 94, a resident of Robstown since 1913, passed away Monday, August 9, 1999. She was born May 12, 1905, in Lockhart, Texas to F.M. "Frank" Sr. and Reky Herrmann Stubbs. She was a graduate of Robstown High School. She and her husband, W.C. "Clyde" Cates, operated many businesses in Robstown. He preceded her in death. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, United Church Women, Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 540, Par Avance Club, A.A.R.P., Young In Heart, Luncheon Club, Homemakers Club and Grandmothers Club.
   She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Anita Cates of Corpus Christi; one daughter and son-in-law, Zula M. and Dale Langley of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren, Clayton Cates, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Carol Rae Cates of Austin, Dale Jr. (Kathy) Langley of Austin, Clyde (Mary) Langley of Denver, Colorado, David (Jennifer) Langley of Coppell, Texas; seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Elizabeth Langley of Austin, Austin and Colette Langley of Denver, Colorado, Alyssa Rae and Will Langley of Coppell, Texas.
   Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM with the family present from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 10, 1999, in Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
   Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 11, 1999, in First United Methodist Church in Robstown with Rev. John Smith, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Robstown Cemetery.
   Pallbearers will be Thomas Bond, Allen Burditt, Jr., Albert Hornung, Jr., Alton Hutchinson, Bennie Liska and Al Veselka.

   Francisca Antonette Paz, 5, of Corpus Christi passed away on Monday, August 9, 1999.
   She is survived by her mother, Clara Rosa Sifuentes and step father, Ruben Sifuentes; sister, Gabriella Sifuentes, step-brother, Joshua Miears, maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Martin Huerta, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jose Paz, step grandparents, Mr. Ruben Sifuentes, Sr., Mrs. Beatrice Sifuentes; great grandmother, Margarita Garcia; uncle, Manuel X. Garcia, aunt, Mrs. David Salinas; step uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Monico Garcia, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Jose Garcia, Mr. Gerardo Garcia, Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe Garcia, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Rivera, Dr. and Mrs. Roger Sifuentes, Melinda Sifuentes; two cousins, Daniel and Mercedes Salinas, godmother, Mrs. Manuela Martinez all of Corpus Christi.
   The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, August 12, 1999 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home, Holly Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm.
   Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 13, 1999 at The Corpus Christi Cathedral.

GARCIA
   Julian P. Garcia, 82, passed away Tuesday August 10, 1999. She was born on September 8, 1916 in San Isidro, Texas. Former resident of Corpus Christi. Juliana is survived by daughter, Elia Meador, Houston, Esiquia "Isaac" Escobar, Humble. Beatrice Johnson, Pasadena. Martha Matlock, Spring. Sons: Eloy Silva, Houston and David Garcia, Baytown. Grandchildren: Lori Lynn Lee, Lydia Julie Bone, Gavin Wayne Bone, Billie Nicole Matlock, Bobbie Jo Garcia, Joe David Garcia, Stacie Irene Escobedo, Brandie Iris Escobedo, Judy Johnson, Janet Campbell, Jennifer Meador, Jill Elder, Elisa J. Silva, Andrea Victoria Sullivan, Omar Noe Escobar and Andrew Christopher Escobar. Seven great grandchildren. Brothers: Juan Pena, San Antonio, Martimiano B. Pena, McAllen and Merced Pena, San Isidro.
   Wake will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Chapel.

JIMENEZ
   Alejandro Zamora Jimenez, 91, of Corpus Christi, passed away Sunday, August 8, 1999 at his residence. He was born on April 24, 1908. He was retired from Texas Employment Commission after thirty years of service. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His laughter and smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
   He is preceded in death by his first wife, Refugia "Cuca" Lerma Jimenez, and by his second wife, Maria Garcia Jimenez.
   He is survived by his son, Daniel A. Jimenez Sr., one grandson, Daniel A. Jimenez Jr. Four granddaughters, Anna (Joe) Navejar, Bertha (Jaime) Martinez, Jeanie (Rene) Martinez, Mary (Santos Torres) Jimenez all of Corpus Christi, one sister, Petra Jimenez, eight great grandchildren, Joe Navejar IV, Jaime Rene Jr., April, Samantha, Rachel, Miranda Martinez, Rebecca Jimenez, and Christian Torres, all of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
   The family will be receiving guests from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at Memorial Funeral Home, Crosstown Chapel.

KEARNS
   Robert P. Kearns, 80, died Tuesday at Spohn South Hospital.
   Mr. Kearns was born February 7, 1919 in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Robert and Mae Kearns. He was reared by an aunt and her husband, Pearl and Henry Wittenweiler in Verona, New Jersey. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Corps during World War II. He married Jo Shrum Kearns on March 11, 1944 in Burkburnett, Texas.
   Mr. Kearns was employed in the food service business in Burkburnett and later in Fort Worth. In 1954, he came to Corpus Christi with Standard Brands. In subsequent years, he was employed by Tower Drug Stores, Quick-Way Institutional Wholesale Grocery Supply and Delta Restaurant Supply. He retired from Delta in 1984.
   He was a member of First Christian Church, was a Master Gardener through the Nueces County Master Gardener organization, and volunteered many hours conducting adult training for the local Cub Scout effort.
   In 1996, Mr. Kearns was named the Jefferson Volunteer Award winner by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times for his work creating the Growing Room project in the Corpus Christi Public Schools and for his creation of the Children's Garden through the Corpus Christi Botanical Society.
   Survivors includes his wife, Jo Kearns, of Corpus Christi; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pud Kearns of Greenville; two grandsons, Robert Kearns and Richard Kearns, both of Greenville; and one sister, Pearl Hughes of Ramsey, New Jersey.
   He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Kearns of River Vale, New Jersey.
   Pallbearers are Gene Carter, Carol Clark, Roy Daniel, Tom Haggard, Bob Sumpter and Jim Welsh.
   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Christian Church Permanent Endowment Fund or to the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens.
   Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home.
   Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. in Seaside Chapel.
   Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.

LEMOS
   Oscar H. Lemos, 61, passed away at his residence Sunday, August 8, 1999. A lifelong resident of Corpus Christi he was employed with Del Mar College for over 30 years where he was well known and respected. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
   He is preceded in death by his very close friend Emilia Estrada and his parents George Milton Lemos and Flossie Herrera Lemos.
   Survivors include his three brothers, Roberto H. (Delia) Lemos, Arnoldo "Tato" H. (Evangelina) Lemos, and Guadalupe H. (Marta) Lemos; niece, Mary Jane (Ruben) Morales all of Corpus Christi; numerous other nieces and nephews.
   Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm.
   A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am, Thursday, August 12, 1999 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
   Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

MURRAY
   Albert Sidney (Sid) Murray passed away on August 8, 1999 at the age of 91. Sid Murray was born on July 13, 1908 in Gauze, Texas to Robert Bruce and Martha Luce Murray. His wife of 53 years, Rosalia Brazzel Murray preceded him in death in 1992 and his wife, Louise Adams Murray, died in July 1999.
   Mr. Murray liked to tell the stories of his hobo-ing during the Depression years. He had moved to New Mexico with his parents and three older brothers after they went broke farming in Crystal City. It was there that he got into the insurance business and developed some of the earliest mass marketing plans in the insurance industry. Mr. Murray sold his insurance agency in Albuquerque in 1946 and moved back to Texas because there were more people in Texas. He pioneered the development of insurance programs for professional associations in Texas. He wrote the first insurance program sponsored by The State Bar of Texas in 1947 and subsequently set up programs for members of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accounts, Texas Medical Association, Texas Dental Association, Texas Society of Professional Engineers and numerous other associations. Sid Murray "Pays in a Hurry" with its home office in Corpus Christi was known across the state for exceptional and fast service, particularly for "paying claims in a hurry." He was a charter member of the American Institute of Professional Group Administrators. The Sid Murray Agency was sold to Monumental Corporation in 1981.
   Mr. Murray, a member of the Corpus Christi Country Club, was an avid golfer and card player. He loved traveling, and in the 1960's he took his family on extensive hunting trips to the Yukon, Portuguese East Africa and the Arctic Circle. His office and home were decorated with his and his children's trophies. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a former member of the Order of Alhambra Baza Caravan. He was a director of the former First State Bank in Six Points and Bank of Commerce in the Petroleum Building and former member of the Six Points Optimist Club.
   Survivors include sons, Michael R. Murray of Aransas Pass and William L. Murray of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Patricia M. Eisenhauer of Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren: Robert Murray of Austin, Texas, Travis Murray of Corpus Christi, Texas, Justin Murray of San Antonio, Texas, Thomas E. Eisenhauer of Washington D.C., Catherine Sidney Eisenhauer of Longview, Texas and Anne Cecilia Murray of Corpus Christi, Texas; Stepsons: John Adams of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Lee Adams of Parker, Colorado; sisters-in-law Mrs. Don Murray of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. G.E. Murray of Hays, Kansas; Sister Kathleen Brazzel, OSB and Sister Elizabeth Ann Brazzel, OSB of Atchison, Kansas; and numerous nephews and nieces, including Don DeGraftenreid (Ida) of Helene, Montana.
   The family would like to extend a special thank you for the loving care given to Sid by Rita DeMartino, Otto and Rosemary Risner, Candi Santellana and Charlene Johnson and Gabby Arnold.
   Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 1999. A private entombment will follow.

Ponder all of Corpus Christi,Texas, Otto Risner of Wisconsin and Frank B. Burney of San Antonio, Texas will serve as honorary pallbearers.

ROGERS
   James H. (Jim) Rogers, 67, passed away Sunday, August 8, 1999. He was born September 1, 1931 in Park Rapids, Minnesota to the late James M. and Elsie Seward Rogers. Jim was a self employed heavy equipment repairman.
   He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Gary) Weaver of Odem, Texas; sisters, Arlys Eardley and Eunice Collins both of Phoenix, Arizona; beloved friend, Jacqueline Riddle of Corpus Christi, Texas and a grandson, Joshua Weaver of Odem, Texas.
   A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, August 12, 1999 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Hisel officiating. Interment services will be held at a later date.
   In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

WAKEFIELD
   Helen B. Wakefield, 76, passed away Monday, August 9, 1999 in Victoria, Texas.
   She wass a former resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Fred O. Wakefield; her parents, Clarence W. and Edna M. Jones; and two sisters, Margaret Jones and Doris Flowers.
   Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda W. (Lee) McIntire of Baytown, Texas; sons, Bruce W. Wakefield of Corpus Christi, Texas, Donald R. Wakefield of Humble, Texas and Fred N. (Earline) Wakefield of Austin, Texas; eleven grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 12, 1999 in the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.
   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics.

WHITEHILL
   Ida Sarah Whitehill, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 1999 in a local nursing home.
   Ida was born in Niles, Ohio and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1944. She was employed at Memorial Medical Center as a Payroll Clerk and Personnel Representative until her retirement.
   She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Wesley Angels; a past member of the Business Professional Women's Club and the Corpus Christi Garden Club. She was volunteer for Loaves & Fishes and the Juvenile Court.
   Ida was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert D. "Bob" Whitehill.
   She is survived by her son, Dale Whitehill and his wife Janice; granddaughter, Cindy Carson and her husband, Mike all of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister, June Culberson and her husband, Dale of Horseheads, New York; and several nieces and nephews.
   Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday August 11, 1999 at the Seaside Funeral Home.
   Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 1999 at the Wesley United Methodist Church.
   Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coastal Bend Area Chapter of the Council of the Blind, 5014 Carroll Ln. Corpus Christi, Texas.

WRIGHT
   Lonnie Victor Wright, 53, passed away August 9, 1999.
   He was a 1963 graduate of Flour Bluff High School, and attended the University of Corpus Christi on a music scholarship before he joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He spent more than 30 years at Citgo, where he worked as an instrument technician. He was 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and past Master of Sunset Blue Lodge #1388.
   He is survived by his wife, Judy Fry Wright; two daughters, Paula Davis-Cabler (James) and Amy Lea Wright; granddaughter, Christina Lynn Davis all of Corpus Christi, Texas; mother-in-law, Pauline Fry of Corpus Christi, Texas; four brothers: Maurice (Lilly) Wright of Fort Worth, Texas, Clarence (Colett) Wright of Plainview, Texas, Robert (Karen) Wright of Houston, Texas and Danny Wright of Corpus Christi, Texas; and four sisters: Eunice Patterson, of Georgia, Jo Anne Reed of Garland, Texas, Fannie Jo Brown of Corpus Christi, Texas and Nora Jean (Richard) Terry of Corpus Christi, Texas.
   He is also survived by a life long best friend, Ronnie Brown and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
   Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at the Seaside Funeral Home.
   Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 1999 in the Seaside Chapel followed by a Masonic service.
   Interment will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.
